Mid Michigan Puppetry Club Meeting Summary

A meeting was held for the Mid Michigan Puppetry Club on Thursday, February 20 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Members present were Jon Morgan and Tonya Huber. Preparations are continuing in anticipation of the Puppetry Camp which is scheduled to take place inside Art Reach of Mid Michigan from March 30 – April 3. The classes will be held in the evening from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. and will be geared towards kids 9-14 years of age. The camp will culminate with a live performance in the Broadway Theater at 6 p.m. on April 3.

During a Friends of the Broadway Theater on Wednesday, Jon outlined the resources which would be needed during the performance. He will be presenting a finalized list of needs at the March meeting of the Friends of the Broadway Theater. Jon also noted that volunteers are still needed for the Children’s Village event taking place on Saturday, April 25 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. as a part of the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival. This will not be a staged performance, but instead the puppeteers would interact with the crowd there. Jon will be setting up a curtain behind which puppeteers can perform behind. The club is also looking at a couple of possible gigges in the spring.
